When a gun is pointing right at you, the wisest thing to do is just give the money instead of risking your life. You can only hope for the best that the robber would get the money and leave right away.

But have you heard of a robbery with a surprising twist in the story?

He was dressed in black with a dark green hoodie jacket. He covered his face with a mask and drew a handgun at the cashier, asking for all the cash in their register.

The female staff tried to stay calm and obeyed the man.

She took out all the money in the register and handed it to the man. He had all the cash in his hand already when things suddenly went into a surprising turn.

The man returned the money to the cashier. His reason?

He said the cash was not enough for his daughter’s kidney transplant. He was handed around a couple of hundred dollars but refused to take it. The cashier said that his demeanor changed to a more friendly one as he put away his gun, gave back the money, and walked out of the store.

This was surprising for everyone, including the police.

“If you are going to commit a robbery, I guess the best type of robbery to commit is one where you don’t complete it and change your mind,” Capt. Sekou Kinebrew of the Philadelphia Police told CBS 17.

However, his change of heart didn’t rid him of any charges.

According to Captain Kinebrew, the man was still charged with armed robbery because his act still violated the law. They were just glad that no one was got hurt and that nothing was taken away from the store.

But if you were to ask the owner, there’s something else he wished would happen to the man.

He said that it was fitting that he was charged for carrying a gun and taking it out of his pocket. He also said a heartwarming concern that came out of this robbery attempt.

“As a society, we should do something to help people like that and not push him to the edge where they have to use a gun,” he said in an interview.

Thankfully, the police were thinking of the same thing.
